Sampa is big enough to keep u learning and changing but small enough to be friendly, inviting and oh so challenging. If you want to work out and never be bored, u got to join a bootcamp session. It is awesome. Julie is the best! Always on point! She knows her stuff and is always willing to help you be a better you. Very cool gym!

Striking Program at Sampa martial arts under renovation.

Striking Program at Sampa martial arts under renovation.

This year is the year where prof. Renato decided to focus on many changes in our striking program.

At Sampa martial arts we offer jiu jitsu classes (ground fighting and grappling) as well striking classes where there is a lesser component of a grapple and throws and higher component of punches and kicks.

We understand that knowing both is important for a complete self defense knowledge or skills of course one can perform better on the ground then when striking or vice versa but not knowing one of them could be dangerous for self defense.

So prof. Renato went to Thailand to study the art from the roots, talked to many coaches, trained and observe many classes and already came with many ideas that have been already shared to the Sampa Martial Arts coaches.

Then in February prof. Renato brought an amazing coach Nicolas Saignac a Frenchman expert in Savate or French boxing or boxe Française.
Mr. Nicolas showed great techniques and basics of the sport and also a great explanation of footwork and why the techniques are different from other striking styles as well the importance of not getting hit.
After his seminar prof. Renato went to Chicago and did a test and certification on Savate held by USSF United States Savate Federation.

The seminar was held by three silver gloves instructors: Roger Luri, Mile Ilic and Craig at Kensho martial arts in Chicago and prof. Renato got ranked as blue glove. “It is very cool to go back and start as a white belt again, humbling and amazing” said prof. Renato.
There also many techniques where learned as well as the two styles of sparring the assault and the combat.
Many ideas also are already being added to our Sampa martial arts striking program.

Last week we had another great striking seminar this time done by mr. Antonio la salandra a captain of the Rome police and also the man in charge of teaching the Swiss guards (the security guards of the pope and the Vatican). Mr. Antonio has a background in kyokushin Karate and Seidokaikan karate also know as Japanese Kickboxing.
At his seminar he not only showed techniques but how to apply them in self defense situations as well in situations that the attacker has a knife.
Many stress drills that will be for sure added to many of our classes.

Soon prof. Renato will be visiting Holland and its amazing Kickboxing or Dutch Kickboxing.
Japan for Seidokaikan and France for Savate.

In a couple of years as the students progress we will have produced amazing stand up fighters and students.
