Sampa is a top tier BJJ academy. The inside is huge with plenty of room, the staff is always friendly and informative, the students have a reciprocating desire to learn and get better, and the instructors are passionate and patient to teach and excited to see you succeed. Professor Nathan Basseto is incredible and I highly recommend him

If you are looking for a BJJ academy that stays true to the art of BJJ, this place is it. Sampa is owned by a globally recognized 4th degree black belt named Professor Renato Migliaccio. Prof. Renato strives to provide high quality BJJ classes and it shows through his continued practice to maintain training in BJJ and other mixed martial arts. Prof. Renato has the ability to recognize the interests and athletic needs of the community he serves. I highly recommend this academy for children as young as 3 up to adults. If you come to Sampa you will be warmly welcomed to the Sampa family.

Hands down the best choice I ever made for my son. He’s learned discipline, has more confidence, and can defend himself.
Clean facility, amazing staff, and Prof. Renato is very involved with his students.

Jiu Jitsu teaches students – Martial artists to take responsibilities

Take Responsibility – Sampa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Many of you know that I have a son who is almost 2 years old. If you are a parent, then you already know how many times I have to watch the same movie over and and over in one day.

Lately, my son has been watching a lot of Lion King because he loves lions and their roars. Because I’ve had to watch this movie so many times, I noticed that every time I watch it again, I pick up on something that I had not noticed before.

Lately I’ve been paying attention to the Hakuna Matata philosophy taught in the movie. This is introduced when Timon and Pumba meet Simba after he has left his family. They taught him about Hakuna Matata which means “no worries” or no responsibilities.

It sounds like a cool philosophy but this is not what we do or teach here at Sampa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. What we teach in our martial arts classes, Judo, Jiu Jistu, and Kickboxing classes is to take responsibility for your actions and see how you can make an impact in your community and in yourself. We want our students to work hard and take on the responsibility of making the world better, not just living for themselves.

In the Lion King movie, when the lions found Simba and met up again, they pushed Simba to take on his responsibilities to make their community better because he is a lion and a king should not deny his responsibilities.

In our word, too, we need to push each other to take on responsibilities and to make our society better. At Sampa jiu jitsu, we push our students to be better people and to be aware of how they can impact each other, their communities, and themselves.

There are many reasons why adults look into start Jiu Jitsu training:

  • Learning the martial arts alone, its philosophy, history education etc,
  • To pursue a carrier and eventually teach,
  • For self-defense purposes – Learn How to kick butt and be confident,
  • For fitness and work out – weight loss and better Health,
  • For Competition,
  • To make friends – better life style, stress release etc.
  • Discipline

Parents usually look into Jiu Jitsu so their kids can Have:

  • Discipline meaning Respect
  • Self-Discipline – Commitment – hard work – Focus
  • Self defense
  • Competition
  • Make Friends – get off the computer and games – Quality friends.
  • To enforce Values and morals taught at home.
  • For acquisition of physical abilities such as strength, coordination, speed and resistance – also weight loss.
