Sampa is a top tier BJJ academy. The inside is huge with plenty of room, the staff is always friendly and informative, the students have a reciprocating desire to learn and get better, and the instructors are passionate and patient to teach and excited to see you succeed. Professor Nathan Basseto is incredible and I highly recommend him

If you are looking for a BJJ academy that stays true to the art of BJJ, this place is it. Sampa is owned by a globally recognized 4th degree black belt named Professor Renato Migliaccio. Prof. Renato strives to provide high quality BJJ classes and it shows through his continued practice to maintain training in BJJ and other mixed martial arts. Prof. Renato has the ability to recognize the interests and athletic needs of the community he serves. I highly recommend this academy for children as young as 3 up to adults. Hands down the best choice I ever made for my son. He’s learned discipline, has more confidence, and can defend himself.
Clean facility, amazing staff, and Prof. Renato is very involved with his students.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the Weaker Person

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the Weaker Person

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a self-combat martial art form that is used by individuals to protect themselves from an enemy who is larger, stronger and mightier. The roots of Jiu Jitsu can be traced back to India where Buddhist monks used them for self-defense. From India, the art form travelled to Japan where it was known by the name Jujutsu. From Japan, the art form travelled to Brazil and is now popular by the name Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art form that is similar to karate, kun-fu or kick-boxing. The ultimate aim of learning martial art forms is to protect the self from attack and other unforeseen emergencies that could threaten an individual’s existence. It is especially useful to young children and kids. It makes a child’s life safe, adds value by increasing productivity, stamina and ultimately the health of the individual.

While karate, kung-fu, kick-boxing and other martial art forms are a combination of kick and punch techniques, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu relies more on ground techniques with a combination of grappling and clasping techniques in order to overcome/defeat the enemy. Using Brazilian Jiu Jitsu does not cause any physical harm or injury to the opponent while, at the same time, it effectively silences the enemy.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is being promoted among children as it offers a lot of benefits to children apart from teaching them self-defense techniques. Children are highly vulnerable to attacks and hence must be well-equipped to save themselves if a situation arises. In addition to combat skills children also derive a lot of life related benefits by practicing or undergoing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moulds the mind and body of a child to set goals and work towards achieving them. It instills a sense of discipline among kids and children. Practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu requires a lot of discipline and dedication. This discipline learnt as a part of the training spills over into the personal life and helps children to become more self-disciplined.

The techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu help children develop self-control. Practicing Jiu Jitsu moves involves a lot of restraint and control on the part of children. By learning self-control children can restrict themselves from getting into bad habits.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu also doubles up as an exercise and helps children to stay fit, trim and active. A session of Jiu Jitsu involves breathing exercises, stretching exercises, cardiovascular workouts and also resistance workouts. These rigorous training sessions build body strength; improve resistance power, flexibility and endurance of the body. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu also helps children to stave off obesity, which has lately become a grown concern across the world. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu helps children with special needs like Autism and Asperger syndrome to cope better with every day challenges by improving their abilities and skills related to sports and games in addition to improving attention and concentration levels.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides a lifelong benefit to children unlike any other martial art form does. Hence, it has been gaining popularity over the past few years.
